Based on our research evaluations and general feedback from  council members, it is important to consider the following criteria when selecting furniture for all council facilities:

Safety It is vitally important that all facility managers thoroughly check the condition of the venue furniture to ensure safety elements are passed for all community members to use.
Commercial certification: to support the safety aspect of the furniture items, it is also crucial to ensure that suppliers of furniture have had their products tested, certified and approved for commercial purposes. 
Fire retardancy: any vinyl or fabric-covered furniture items (including curtains and other fabric textiles) need to be approved for fire retardancy as well as pass commercial standards.
Fit for purpose: various students or community members of all ages need to be able to set up and pack down furniture without any difficulty. It is important that all furniture items are lightweight, durable and easy to handle.
Manual handling equipment:  Easy to use trolleys for both chairs and tables. This saves time in the setup and packing.
